THRIVE BLUE CONSULTING

EXPERIENCE

Experience of Leslie Wickes, principal of Thrive Blue Consulting

PROJECT MANAGER

SOCAN

Thrive Blue managed the Southeast Ocean and Coastal Acidification Network (SOCAN), a regional acidification network, serving as a liaison to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  Thrive Blue facilitated regional grant applications to advance acidification research, managed funding and budgets, synthesized research and expanded network priorities to integrate efforts with stakeholders.  Specializing in engagement, we translated complex regional data from federal and non-profit programs to empower businesses and state governments with actionable insights.  We executed workshops throughout the U.S. Southeast with industry, government and non-profits to develop holistic solutions to emerging coastal water quality issues.

SCIENTIST & COMMUNICATION ANALYST

NOAA/JHT, INC.

Leslie Wickes served as an analyst at NOAA's National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, preparing technical reports for environmental damage and climate change impact assessments and delivering scientific support to leadership. She developed and implemented novel software techniques to turn visual data into geospatial data, supervised water chemistry analyses and coordinated high-profile meetings with senior leadership, scientists and lawyers for the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment. Additionally, she served on contract for communications, education and outreach, web development and social media for NOAA’s Ocean Acidification Program. While in this role, she researched and synthesized scientific and policy information to translate into understandable, audience-appropriate communications products disseminated through social media, web and international workshops.

CONSULTANT & DATA ANALYST

BLACKBAUD

Leslie Wickes managed software implementation and migration projects for new clients of Blackbaud's flagship cloud software, powering social good. Utilizing diverse skills in project management, communications, programming, SQL, and database design she focused on empowering clients with their data and meeting them where they were throughout the migration process. Managing over fifteen projects simultaneously, she coordinated among internal resources and clients to ensure efficient delivery of technology solutions that met the current and future needs of customers.
